Such a Great Deal!

Întâlnire si Salutare!

This is my new blog site-

I relatively never write in journals or blogs…. Or even update profiles like on MySpace; but this week has been eventful and if it keeps going like this- I am going to become more than excited to share these little moments with friends and family.

I have been spending a lot of time at the library lately (Go Figure).

I take about an hour trip on UTA to the downtown library for usually just some fun. I took the time in renewing my Library card (which had expired) and getting many books and DVDs. Anyways- there are some stores across the aisle that were always pretty fun and so I make it a point to go into them and browse around. I usually don’t buy anything due to the fact that most of their stuff is expensive and should only be bought on special occasions.

(Plus, there was a sign in the window that day that said “USED BOOK SALE” ((yyyyaaaayyy)))

So I went on in and immediately my eyes were directed to a set of books on this… awkward looking self (let's not go into it)

I went over to them to see the titles: “MARK TWAIN”

They looked pretty old so I thought, ‘sweet’ and went to look at the copyright.

1917

Then I thought- ‘well, I am on a budget… these would be too expensive’ But I did catch a glance at the price tag on the one I was holding--- $16

Then I thought “Wow! Sixteen dollars!? Great deal!” and I went to look at the prices of the others- but I couldn’t find a price tag.

So I went up to the store clerk and asked her how much were the others and she looked confused at me and we both went over.

She took one look and said “Oh those books! Yeah, the price tag on the one is for the whole set”

I looked at her in shock and said “This set of 7, 1917 Mark Twain books are 16 dollars all together??? Not separate?”

And she said “No, they are all together for $16, do you want them??”

“Well duh! Heck yes! Wrap these ones up, I say!”

So… Now I have 7 books from Mark Twain; 1917 dated. Yay- the Prince and the Pauper, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer… I pretty much died….. Or acted like a girl scout selling her first box of cookies.

Anyways- I do love the first few sentences of Prince and the Pauper…. That I found funny in my youth... and still find hilarious- No matter how stupid public may say it is. So I am going to read it to you.

THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER

CHAPTER I

The birth of the Prince and the Pauper

In the ancient city of London, on a certain autumn day in the second quarter of the sixteenth century, a boy was born to the name of Canty, who did not want him. On the same day another English child was born to a rich family by the name of Tudor, who DID want him.

xD Am I really that childlike? You do know who Tudor was right? If you do- who cares- I want to be a smartie. ^^

HISTORY 101: The English family by the name of Tudor was the royal Monarchy rising to the throne in 1485 through intermarriage with a Welsh Ruler. They maintained the throne till 1603 with the death of Elizabeth I (who was infertile and didn’t produce an heir… That and she was a Woman so the name wouldn’t have followed if she actually did get married). The Most popular Tudor- whom people most recognize the name to- was King Henry VIII who executed/divorced/survived his six wives- Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Katherine Parr for giving birth to his double X chromosome -glare- Jerkhead.
